When this group reached out to me to come and play for our concert series. I only had to listen for one minute to say YES! These multi-instrumental sisters are going to blow your mind with their virtuosic music. The thrilling sound of Choro music from Brazil will take you on a wonderful journey. You do not want to miss this.

Hopefully the weather will let us be on our outdoor lawn stage but we will have an indoor space ready if needed.

Choro das 3 is a trio of three sisters from São Paulo, Brazil, who are highly regarded as some of the best choro musicians in the world. (Choro is an enormously appealing musical style that originated in Brazil over 100 years ago and is now popular internationally.) In Brazil, Choro das 3 has been featured on national television, played for the president, and played for huge audiences at national festivals. The band toured the US annually from 2013 – 2019, playing at concert venues, festivals, and universities from coast to coast. They’ve also toured internationally and have released 11 CDs. Of the three sisters in the band, (family name Meyer Ferreira), Corina plays flute and piccolo, Lia plays acoustic 7-string guitar, and Elisa, who writes many of their tunes, plays mandolin, clarinet, banjo, piano and accordion.

You can see many videos on their website as well as their adventures traveling the US in their motorhome. They have legions of fans and followers. Here is just a sample with Lia and Elisa, who is a rising star in the mandolin world and hailed by our mandolin heroes.

Mike Marshall, the world-renowned mandolinist, says that Choro das 3 plays, “. . . some of the most inspired and inspiring music . . . the highest level of musicianship and presentation . . . the highest quality of Brazilian Choro music that can be heard any place today.”

Marilyn Mair, Professor of Music at Roger Williams University, says, “The group ‘Choro das 3’ is a truly extraordinary example of traditional Choro performance practice, and the performers are all virtuosos on their instruments. . . . Their recordings and expertise have established them worldwide as important advocates for this musical style.”

Thursday, June 06, 2024 – Two Crows for Comfort – Acoustic Roots duo

We are approached by so many musicians wanting to come and perform in our concert series, Many of them are not a good fit or just don’t sound good enough. This  Candian duo sounded so good to my ears that we invited them to come.  I know you will enjoy them so make your reservations soon.

Manitoba Country Music Association’s 2021 Roots Duo/Group of the Year, Two Crows for Comfort, are a touring folk-roots duo from the prairie wonderland of Manitoba. These wandering troubadours, accompanied by their pup, Elliot, travel across North America in an 18-foot camper, playing countless shows from coast to coast to coast.

Whether it’s a major festival or an intimate house concert, Two Crows will have you whisked away to the coziness of your living room as they weave a warm blanket of fine-crafted lyrics, powerful lead vocals and intricate harmonies. The duo’s unique arrangements will keep you in suspense while their memorable melodies will stay with you long after the night is over.

Wednesday, July 31, 2024 – Our annual 70’s sing-along. 6pm to 9pm

This is one of our favorite events. Everyone gets a songbook with lyrics and gets to shout out which songs they want the musicians to play and we all sing together. It’s so much fun every year. The donation is only $5. to join for this musical picnic. There are fine musicians to accompany your favorite songs. If you are a musician you can bring along your carefully tuned instrument as well as the chords are on the songsheets too. You can come and go anytime you like during the three-hour event. Please let me know if you plan to come as I try to get a rough idea of how many folks to expect. This is more freestyle than the regular concerts where we keep careful track of seats.

Monday, Sept 18, 2024 – Keith Murphy – Masterful guitar and voice from Quebec 6pm.

We hosted a concert here in our early days and saw Keith play guitar with famous harpist Maeve Gilchrist. Keith is touring from the east coast and Aryeh was thrilled to offer him a concert here as we are big fans. His guitar work is outstanding and his voice is like pure honey. He plays traditional music that warms the heart. More below

A native of Newfoundland, Keith’s traditional song repertoire is based in Eastern Canada and Quebec as well as his current home, Vermont. His direct and intimate style of traditional singing in English and French infuses old ballads and songs with a powerful immediacy while his rhythmic and percussive finger style of guitar playing brings new shape and color to his songs.
Keith is an accomplished composer and arranger in the realm of traditional music and has also composed for theater and film. He is a featured performer on well over a dozen recordings and a guest musician on numerous others. Several of his compositions have been featured on the recent Ken Burns’ documentary on the Roosevelts. Video here
